This is me harassing my son as he is trying to get some sleep.
- I got to see my friend Becky and Jerry this week. It has been too long since we got together but time seems to have gone by really fast.
- Jordon has some good news about an emergency women’s shelter in Saskatoon.
- We are redoing Mark’s new bedroom right now. We are getting rid of the grey cement floor with something a little more inviting. We haven’t found an area rug yet but I am sure that is just a matter of time. I’ll post some photos when we are done. I think it will look really, really nice.
- Maggi is still limping a but but is recovering.
As Jordon wrote, Maggi got hit by an out of control car the other night in our yard (on the side boulevard). She was tossed to the side of the car as it kept going and she will be alright but she is a little tender moving the last couple of days.
While we were at Gloria’s retirement party, Gloria told a story about all of us and our relationship. She talked about how she got to know Jordon and I shortly after Marion died. She used to say to Jordon, “I am just being your mother.” when she would nag him. As he later said, the comment was a little jarring the first time she said it but Reimer’s long ago became family to us and she is a mom to both of us now.
When she talked about me, she brought up what it was like visiting me in the hospital and brought up how close I was to not surviving having Oliver. Looking back at it it was a lot harder on Reimers,Jordon, and other friends than it was on me. A combination of being drugged up and family and friends being there made me unaware how sick I really was but looking back at it, I was so glad that they were all there beside me. If I ever have to face death again, I am sure glad I was surrounded by those that loved me.
I was out trimming the hedge today when I managed to cut the extension cord in half. What made it worse that was before I could fix it, Jordon came home, saw the hedge clippers out and was going to finish the job. Yes, much mocking was heard.
Last night we went over to Alyson’s place for Gloria’s retirement party. It was a good time of being around her friends and a bunch of friends we made while Jordon worked at Lakeview Church. Oddly enough, every couple that was there had at least one person who used to work at Lakeview. It was kind of morbid reliving how they quit working there.
It was a lot of fun there. Good food and Gloria shared some great memories and stories about everyone there. I really enjoyed myself and I hope Gloria did as well.
We gave Gloria a book called Oh Shit! It’s Jesus. Gloria has joked that “shit” was her favorite word so when we saw the book, we knew it was perfect for Gloria. Of course it didn’t take long for the phrase of the night to turn into, Oh Shit! It’s Gloria. It could be the title of her autobiography.
This pretty much sums up what I think about Crocs. Of course I own a pair. Of course Crocs knows that we are making fun of them. They keep it going during their own commercials.
