Well Christmas is done. The stockings are empty, the presents are opened, and the turkey has been eaten. Here are some of the highlights.
Lee gave Mark a PlayStation 2. As Mark was opening it, he stopped and said, “What is this? I see a P and a half of a S. I think it may be for Dad.” He thought it was a PSP. - We gave Mark Guitar Hero I and II as well as the guitar controller. I never thought a video game could be so much fun. I can play, “I Love Rock and Roll” in the easy mode but Lee is the Guitar Hero in the family. The comment of the morning was made by Lee to Jordon, “The game is called Guitar Hero, not High School Band Hero.” By the end of the day, Lee was no longer Uncle Lee to Mark but is now Guitar Hero Lee. We enjoyed the game enough that Jordon, Lee, and Mark are growing mullets.
- From Jordon, Maggi, and Mark, I was given a new winter jacket, a egg poacher, a Company’s Coming cookbook, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Lee gave me a new set of stoneware plates and some coasters. The egg poacher caught me off guard because when I asked for one, Jordon pretended he didn’t know what they were and we couldn’t find one to show him. Of course he was playing dumb the entire time and had already bought me one.
- I gave Jordon The War Room by Warren Kinsella. We also gave the same book to Gloria and I think Jordon would have wept had I not gave it to him.
- We gave Mark a snowboard for Christmas. It was tucked behind the tree on Christmas morning and Mark thought it was for Lee. He seemed in shock when we said it was for him.
- Christmas afternoon was managed to extract ourselves from Guitar Hero long enough to go and visit the Pederson clan and then we were off to the Reimers for Christmas dinner. In addition to Matt, Jesika, and Kristi, Allison Hamm and kids as well as Dwight and Jacqueline Kroeker were there. The food is always good there but Jacqueline brought a Jello salad that was simply amazing. I got the recipe from her and posted it here. We had a pretty good time and I think ate way too much. We left there at eight p.m. and by nine, I think all of us had gone to bed (although Lee managed to play a little more of Guitar Hero).
- Today Jordon and I went out for a drive and went by Future Shop. They were lined up about 100 deep outside of the store. I know there are deals in the morning but by noon I think most of those are gone and people are still lined up 100 deep. Those are dedicated and committed shoppers. I am not nearly so committed.
- We also found Mark a SpongeBob Squarepants PDA which has 2k of memory with it. A whole 2k. We did do a quick check and the Commodore PETs that Jordon and I had in school had 4k. Of course they weighed probably 500 times more.
