As mentioned before, Jordon bought me a copy of The Artist’s Way which I am getting into. Part of the discipline is writing out longhand, three pages each and every day. That is a bit daunting and I wondered if I could just use a small Moleskine to save me some time. Jordon foiled my plan and while running some errands yesterday, we stopped into Office Depot to find a notebook. As we walked in, I found a notebook right away on sale. Jordon was looking for a camera part and wandered off. As I was looking at some clearance items, some Orthodox clergy in all of their vestments were in looking at this luggage and were blown away by the quality and the price. I was making small talk with them as they picked up some luggage and they were saying what good quality it was. I went over and looked and it was suede and on for $13.50. There was also a Swiss Army notebook case that was on for $9.
By this time Jordon had wandered back and I wanted the luggage which was rebutted by Jordon who reminded me that we don’t need more luggage. We have too much luggage. I tried to sell Jordon on the fact that it would be a nice bag for Soularize . He reminded me that he had a nice bag for Soularize already. At that point I gave up on it but we did by the notebook case. As I was standing in line to pay, Jordon saw my intense sadness at leaving such a perfect piece of luggage behind and went and got it for me. As I paid, I found out that the prices had been slashed again and it was even cheaper than it was listed. The entire bill was under $20 which was about 10% the list price of the two bags.
Of course the bigger issue was that we have been working and working and working on getting rid of stuff around the house and the idea of adding more stuff, even a single perfect piece of luggage seems to be a step backwards. Of course some quick thinking let me use the excuse that we could give some of our older luggage to Lee making his stuff more organized and also making it easier for him to move out. That is an argument that worked on Jordon.
