Microsoft to Canada: Get lost
May 27, 2006 by Wendy Cooper
Several weeks ago Microsoft had an offer for a free USB drive on their website. I signed up, entered in all of my Canadian mailing information and waited and waited. I just got an e-mail saying that
Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We’ve received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last.
If that was the case, let people know who are signing up that the offer has expired. Other companies do that all of the time and if it isn’t available to Canadians, say that at the start. Right now it feels like Microsoft changed the rules after it got my personal information. Not good for a company that wants me to trust it more and more with my data. I don’t care that much about the drive, I just wish that Microsoft had been a little more direct with me.

I’d care about the drive.
I got free XP from a university promotion, and a free developer toolkit from a .Net event in Regina.
Stupid MS USA Only BS.
[...] Today, I read that Microsoft’s free USB-drive offer was apparently a US-only thing, too. [...]
