Have you ever read your blog

I have been keeping a weblog in one place or another since March 2002 .  When I moved to WordPress.com last year, I imported all of my archives over and added them into this blog from Blogger.  Because I had been using Blogger for so long, I didn’t even have titles on all of my posts and of course Blogger doesn’t have categories which WordPress.com does.  The end result is that I have had to go through each one of my blog posts and add titles to them and categorize them.  I have manipulated Jordon into helping me as well and the result is that every post on this site, all 1500+ of them is being read again.

It is amazing how much of life that is forgotten or simply buried is brought up again.  Good things like vacations and enjoyable evenings as well as horrible things like my miscarriage and fall into depression.  There was also threats by family members over some of the posts and even a threat of a lawsuit or two.  It is a lot like reading an old journal and one that I am glad I kept along the way.

One thing did leap out at me is that my family was far more bothered by this weblog than any of my friends, the church or Jordon.  Probably because my friends know me a lot better than my family did combined with the fact it appeared that I changed more being away from home than anyone expected.  I am not so sure I changed that much.  A friend said last night that since he was married, he has felt more free to be who he really is.  I have always felt the same way about things as I always have, I just feel free to speak my mind more while before I was much more afraid of causing any waves of conflict.

I kept an actual written journal from 1992 until 2001. I still have the books in a box in my closet. Even though I haven’t had the time to go through and read the hundreds of entries I wrote I know that it was all part of my journey. Many things changed in those 10 years and every experience has helped me become the person I am now. Some of the ideas I had are down right funny now. It’s all about growing! I believe that it’s important to express ones self whether it is in a ratty notebook or publicly online.
