Noise reducing headphones
October 28, 2005 by Wendy Cooper
I bought Jordon some noise reducing headphones today. How do they work? They receive the incoming noise waves and superimpose each wave with another noise wave coming off the head phone speakers which is a 180 degree shifted, so the two waves cancel each other out. They are low end ones but they work pretty well. They don’t cancel out voices which may be a good or a bad thing but they do a pretty good job of drowning out background noise.Without a quiet space to call his own, we have worked hard to find some sanctuary for him. We rearranged our bedroom so that there is some more open space and these will hopefully help him drown up some of the noise that always seems ever present around here many days. Who knows? He may even find some sleep.
